Data on your device

Everything you create in NetBuddy stays on your device: devices and connections, credentials, SSH keys, favourites, bookmarks, snippets and settings. We never receive any of it.

Passwords and SSH keys are encrypted with a key from the Android Keystore (AES-GCM). They are excluded from Android's automatic backup and are not transferred when you move to a new device. Other settings may be backed up to your Google account if you have device backup turned on; you control this in the Android settings.

Deleted files go to a recycle bin on your device and are permanently removed after 30 days. Crash reports stay local and are shown to you on the next start so you can pass them on yourself.

Connections to your devices

When you connect to a device (SMB, NFS, FTP/FTPS, SFTP, SSH, Git or via the browser), NetBuddy transmits the necessary data directly to that device, for example your credentials and the files you upload or download. The operators of these devices and services are responsible for them.

The network tools (scanner, ping, port scan, DNS, route) only send requests to the targets you specify or to your local network. Only use them on networks and devices you are authorised to use.

The built-in browser loads the websites you open; their privacy policies apply. If you search from the address bar, your query goes to the search engine you selected in the settings.
